When to Start Seeing an OB/GYN?

Importance of Annual Screenings
Women need to consult with their OB/GYN about annual screenings — things that cannot be done over a virtual call — as Dr. Jessica Kriston of Meadville OB/GYN Associates (MOGA) explains. This includes screenings for cervical and breast cancer, among other needed tests.

Billing for Services at MOGA
Effective Monday, August 5, 2024
For services received on or after August 5, MMC will no longer charge a facility fee for individuals with commercial insurance at Meadville Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates (MOGA). MMC is required, however, to continue charging Medicaid and Medicare patients a facility fee. Medicare and Medicaid will continue to cover these costs, so patients should still see little to no out-of-pocket expenses.
This is due to funding in the 2024-25 Pennsylvania State budget that provides additional funding specifically for obstetric and neonatal services. More information can be found in our official press release.
Billing FAQs
- Has MMC sold Meadville Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates (MOGA)?
- No, MOGA remains a department of the hospital.
- Why did MMC decide to change the billing process in MOGA?
- MMC’s intention was always to analyze the financial performance of MOGA and adjust the billing process if possible. New funding from the State made this adjustment financially feasible.
- Why do Medicaid and Medicare patients still receive a facility (technical) fee?
- Billing rules require that provider-based locations submit claims using a method known as “split-billing” for Medicare and Medicaid patients.
- Are any services going away?
- No. In fact, the plan is to increase services and offer additional pre-natal and post-delivery care for obstetrics patients.
