Useful For: Zinc is an essential element involved in a myriad of enzyme systems, including wound healing, immune function, and fetal development. Zinc measurements are used to detect and monitor industrial, dietary, and accidental exposure to zinc. Also, zinc measurements may be used to evaluate health and to monitor response to treatment.
Methodology: Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry, Atomic Spectrometry
Specimen Requirements:
1 royal blue-top (EDTA) Monoject® tube (minimum: 0.7 mL of EDTA plasma). Centrifuge royal blue-top within 30 minutes after draw and separate into trace element-free container. Refrigerate specimen after collection.
NOTE: Patient should refrain from taking vitamins or mineral supplements at least three days prior to specimen collection.
Analytical Time: 3 days
