Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) are highly specific and sensitive markers for celiac disease. Recently the specific endomysial antigen has been identified as the protein crosslinking enzyme known as tissue transglutaminase (tTG).
Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody, IgA is useful in diagnosing gluten-sensitive enteropathies, such as celiac sprue, and an associated skin condition, dermatitis herpetiformis.
