Myoglobin, Urine

Useful For: The breakdown of skeletal muscle (rhabdomyolysis) releases myoglobin. Very high concentrations of myoglobin may increase the risk of acute renal failure.

Methodology: Fixed Rate Time Nephelometry

Specimen Requirements: 3.0 mL of a random urine collection(minimum: 0.5 mL of urine) in a urine sample cup supplied by Meadville Medical Center Laboratory. Send specimen frozen in plastic urine container.

Analytical Time: 2 days

Days Set Up: Monday through Saturday
