The HCV RNA PCR test is not to be used without confirmation of the diagnosis by other medically established means.

Methodology: Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Specimen Requirements: 1 yellow-top SST tube (minimum: 0.8 mL of serum). Centrifuge SST 30 minutes after draw, refrigerated (send primary tube for this test).

Analytical Time: 5 days

Days Set Up: Monday through Sunday
