Methodology: Enzymatic Colorimetric
Specimen Requirements: SAMPLE MUST ARRIVE WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF DRAW IF NOT SEPARATED.
1 lavender-top (EDTA) tube (minimum: 1.0 mL of EDTA plasma). Place tube in wet ice and centrifuge EDTA IMMEDIATELY AFTER DRAW. Separate plasma and FREEZE immediately. Send specimen frozen in plastic vial. Forward to Meadville Medical Center Laboratory as soon as possible.
NOTE:
It is preferred that the specimen be drawn at Meadville Medical Center Laboratory.
If unable to centrifuge within 20 minutes, the specimen must be delivered IMMEDIATELY AFTER COLLECTION.
Do not open tube after collection.
Hemolyzed specimens are unacceptable.
