Meadville, PA – Meadville Medical Center (MMC) today announced a proposal to purchase the former City Building, which also served as the former headquarters for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition at 984 Water Street, Meadville.
“MMC is excited to collaborate with the City of Meadville in the purchase of the former City Building. The proposed purchase could be beneficial to the city as it provides the city with needed capital dollars and allows MMC to relocate our Medical Records Department from the Liberty Street campus to this new building. This relocation allows the hospital to expand clinical space at our Liberty Street Campus,” noted Philip Pandolph, MMC President and CEO.
Home Care Connections, a for-profit subsidiary of MMC, is the proposed buyer of the property. As such, the property will remain taxable and the city will continue to realize tax revenues from the purchase. The majority of the first floor of the building will remain available at the present time to potentially accommodate tenants looking for office space within the City of Meadville. It is MMC’s intent to attract additional business to the site that will have a favorable impact on the city and its tax base.
